Villa Halvania Villa Halvania is one of the most famous luxury villas in the Ostuni area. Commission by an architect for the original Chinese owner, the villa is modern and unique with a distinct “air of James Bond” throughout. Built on one of the highest points in Puglia it offers breathtaking views. No expense has been spared on the lavish restoration by the new English owners, who have retained a number of the exclusive oriental features such the indoor water fountain and rockery and ensured the provision of every comfort and luxury. Rarely do villas in Puglia offer the space and high quality facilities that can be found at Villa Halvania. The property accommodates at least 12 people in it's six bedrooms and has extensive living areas including the main open-plan lounge and dining room, two extra lounges, the mezzanine seating area and numerous terraces and balconies around the property. Thanks to the extensive living space, the property can easily accomodate three or more families together as a group. From the large roof terrace there are spectacular 360º views across the plains of olive trees and hilltop towns of the Valle D’Itria. The beautiful swimming pool forms the centre piece of the chic outdoor areas. Flanked by gazebos and sun bathing terraces it is the perfect place to take a relaxing dip in the hot Mediterranean summers. From the outside kitchen guests can enjoy endless barbecues, cool, refreshing drinks and dine at the lovely al fresco dining area. To the left of the house is another unique area for outdoor relaxation – an enchanting grotto dating back thousands of years. Accessed via a winding garden path and surrounded by trees and flowers, the grotto makes for an unusual and memorable venue for parties and events. The grounds extend for 7 acres and ensure, along with a CCTV security system and electric entrance gates, the total privacy of the villa. Throughout the interiors, we have created a stylish and indulgent atmosphere with the use of sumptuous furnishings and close attention to detail. A cinema-style projection system in the main living area means guests can watch movies on a 3 x 2 metre screen in high definition with full 1000w surround sound system. Satellite channels and UK television are also available. Each of the additional lounges has a 32” HD flat screen TV and DVD. Further facilities include Wi-Fi internet throughout the villa and grounds, an Ipod-docking station integrated into the surround sound system and a Sony Wii system. The main kitchen is equipped with state of the art facilities, including a 5 ring 2 ceramic hob cooker with 2 ovens, separate grill and plate warmer, dishwasher, coffee machine, breakfast bar and American style fridge freezer with ice maker and filtered water dispenser. A second kitchen is located on the first floor and in the utility room there is a further fridge, washing machine and a tumble dryer. The six bedrooms are situated on the ground and first floors and can be made up as double or twin rooms. Four of the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms all with bath tub. The luxurious master suite has its own sauna and patio doors leading directly to the swimming pool and gardens. Should guests prefer the sixth bedroom can be made up as an office or study. At the touch of a button, an electric door on the first floor can separate two en suite double bedrooms, a lounge area and the second kitchen from the main house to form an independent apartment. Villa Halvania is located 9km from the famous “White City” of Ostuni and just 2km from the historic town of Ceglie Messapica, renowned for its excellent selection of restaurants. Only 300m away from the villa is the celebrated “Ristorante Antimo”, perfect for guests wishing to sample superb local cuisine and wine without needing to drive. The nearest beaches are a short 15 minute drive, and Puglia’s many other interesting sights are within easy reach. But with every facility and service available in this opulent holiday home, guests will find it hard to tear themselves away from the serious task of relaxing in style. All requests can be accommodated in this truly unique property, from Yacht charter, private chefs to limousines and endless champagne – there is even a private helipad 500m from the villa and parking for up to 30 cars for exclusive events. With central heating and attractive open fire places throughout, this villa also comes highly recommended for low season and Christmas/ New Year bookings.

About Puglia Italy’s best kept secret Protected by its previous lack of international airports, Puglia is still what we all think of when we think of Italy: great food, ancient architecture and a welcoming people whose attitude to life is a holiday in itself.
Puglia is about enjoying yourself: going out to dinner is cheap and children are welcome everywhere. And there is always something to do and a town to visit. Indeed, Lecce has been described as the loveliest baroque city in the Mediterranean. About Puglia, Italy In many ways, this region will be the biggest surprise of Italy's south. From the forests and shining limestone cliffs of the beautiful Gargano peninsula in the north, through the long plain of the Tavoliere to the southernmost tip of Italy's heel, Puglia offers the most variety of any of the southern regions, not only in nature, but in its towns and in its art. In Puglia, you can see Byzantine art around Taranto, a score or so of Europe's finest Romanesque cathedrals, Santa Claus' tomb, the end of the Appian Way at Brindisi, Lecce - the loveliest Baroque city in the Mediterranean - and a region of buildings shaped like oil cans. Timezones Puglia is within southern Italy. Italy is one hour ahead of Greenwich MeanTime and six hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. Summer is generally from the last weekend of March to the end of October.
Information Italy's state tourist board, ENIT has offices or booths in most of the main towns and resorts around the country. Generally, they are all open from around 8am till 12.30pm or 1pm and then from 3pm till around 7pm, this can sometimes be extended in the summer.
These offices are generally known as EPT, AAST, or APT. They can provide hotel lists, town plans and information about local sites that may be of interest.
Geography Puglia is situated in the heel of Italy. Its outside heel runs along the Adriatic and its instep runs along the Ionian. Its major towns are Brindisi, Bari, Lecce, Gallipoli and Otranto.
Lying on a water basin, Puglia is extremely fertile and was heavily settled by the ancient Greeks who planted its famous olive groves and vines. Hence, the Romans called it Magna Graecia.
The landscape, with its thousands of olive trees intermingled with huge prickly pear cacti and honey-coloured dry stone walls, is most unusual and more reminiscent of parts of Greece than Italy.
