Holiday home description

This beautifully restored, picturesque 18th century Normandy farmhouse has three guest rooms with private bathrooms. Guests have access to a comfortably furnished sitting room/library, terraces and extensive gardens equipped with tables and chairs by the side of a small fishing lake.  
 
Rooms are cosy, comfortable and well furnished with en-suite facilities including large, modern baths and showers, electric heating and heated towel rails, radio, hairdryer and toiletries.
 
Outside are two acres of landscaped and well-tended gardens, two terraces with garden furniture and outdoor games.  On the first floor, next to the bedrooms, a guest salon with library and board games are at your disposal.  
 
For evening meals the village bar, restaurant and shops are just 200m away.
 
Ancinnes is located near Alençon in the Normandie Maine Park between the Perche and the Alpes Mancelles, a perfect base for exploring Lower Normandy and north of the Pays de la Loire.  10 minutes from the A28, Alençon and Mamers, stop for a few nights and see a lovely region little known to the British tourist but beloved of the French.  Le Mans is also just 30 minutes (40km) away.

We have a simple but excellent value restaurant in Ancinnes, just 200m from our front door, whilst for something more up-market there is a huge choice of restaurants at Alençon and two restaurants at Neufchatel -en-Saosnois.

Most restaurants in Alençon open at 7.30pm for evening meals, though there are a few that open earlier. Many restaurants close on Sundays and public holidays and take their annual holidays for a fortnight in July or August.

Ancinnes - walking distance

The "Auberge de la Boule d'Or" is our local bar and restaurant, just two minutes away on foot. It offers amazing value for money: a choice of four starters and four main courses plus cheese, pudding and coffee for 11 euros. They will prepare a simpler children's meal if required. Please tip generously - at these prices, you can afford to! Utterly unpretentious, the décor is 'rustic' but for good, honest food a short walk away in a relaxed atmosphere then it's perfect. In the evening you may have the restaurant to yourselves, most trade being lunchtime.

Open lunchtime and evening - best arrive between 6.00pm and 7.30pm lest it shuts early.

Closed Sunday and Monday. No cards.

Annual holidays are usually last 2 weeks of August.

Bourg le Roi - 5 mins by car

The "Bistrot de l'Olivier" is just 4km (2.5 mi.)away at Bourg le Roi. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes, Friday and Saturday evenings. A very popular, cheery little family-run bistrot, next door to the village bar. Tel. 02.33.26.68.75 to book.

Restaurants In Town

Alençon is just 10 minutes away by car and has a huge choice of restaurants - our recommendations are shown on the map below. There are also a couple of restaurants at St Paterne just before you get to Alençon.

The Leclerc shopping centre near the A28 Exit 19 has fast food and snack outlets - a very good sandwich bar, a bar-bistro and a Flunch inside the Leclerc building, plus a McDonalds on the roundabout next to the main road.

Neufchatel-en-Saosnois

"Ma Maison" at Neufchatel-en-Saosnois, 10 mins by car, has fabulous food and eccentric bohemian decor (but probably not suitable for young children). Starters about 10 euros, main courses 15-20 euros, dessert 6 euros. From France tel. 02 43 97 74 19. Open every evening Wednesday to Sunday - opening time 8.00pm.

Also at Neufchatel is "Les Etangs de Guibert", another excellent restaurant in a nice setting overlooking a wooded lake. Menus 20-38 euros. From France tel. 02 43 97 15 38. Open Tuesday to Saturday midday and evening, plus Sunday lunchtime.

How to get there

From Rouen and the North:
Follow A28 from Rouen to Alençon Junction 19; turn left at the péage roundabout and left again at second roundabout towards Champfleur. Turn left at Champfleur church and follow signs to Ancinnes.

From Paris and the East:
Approach Alençon on the N12. Before town centre bear left at the roundabout towards Le Mans on the N138/D438 (NOT the A28). After one more roundabout and two sets of lights turn left at a roundabout onto the D955/D311 direction Mamers and St Paterne. At St Paterne follow the D19 to Ancinnes.

From Caen and Ouistreham:
Take N158 from Caen signposted Alençon; join the A88 as far as Sées and merge on to the A28 to Alençon. Come off at Junction 19; turn left at the péage roundabout and left again at second roundabout towards Champfleur. Turn left at Champfleur church and follow signs to Ancinnes.

From The West:
Approach Alençon on the D311, passing Condé sur Sarthe and St Germain du Corbeis. At the roundabout with the N138/D438 turn left then immediately right at next roundabout direction St Paterne and Mamers D955/D311. At St Paterne follow D19 to Ancinnes.

From Alençon:
Take D955/D311 direction St Paterne and Mamers. At St Paterne follow D19 to Ancinnes.

From Mamers:
Take D311 direction Alençon, turn left at Neufchatel to Ancinnes.

From Le Mans and the south:
Rouessé-Fontaine. At Rouessé you go straight on, passing a church on your right and then straight on at the bend in the road - don't bear left to Bourg le Roi. You'll shortly come to Ancinette where you go straight on to Ancinnes. Arriving in Ancinnes bear right to the village centre. The B&B is 10 mins from A28 junction 20.

If you miss A28 Junction 20:
Go on to A28 Junction 19; turn left at the péage roundabout and left at the next roundabout towards Champfleur. Turn left at Champfleur church and follow signs to Ancinnes. The B&B is 10 mins from A28 junction 19.

If you prefer to avoid the A28 motorway
Take the N138/D438 north from Le Mans, signposted Alençon; turn right after "la Hutte" via a country road signposted Bourg le Roi. From the centre of Bourg-le-Roi follow the road signs to Ancinnes.

and if you miss the turn off to Bourg-le-Roi
keep going towards Alençon but before Alençon turn right at Arçonnay traffic lights (Lidl) then go straight on at the roundabout towards Champfleur. Turn left at Champfleur church towards Ancinnes.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS AT OWNERS' DISCRETION:

Arrival time
Earliest check-in is 4.00pm and latest 8.00pm. Guests must inform us of their expected arrival time.

Deposit
Unless waived, a deposit is required to secure a reservation. Rooms will be reopened to let if the deposit is not received promptly.

If paid by Paypal or bank transfer then the guest is responsible for any associated charges.

Balance of payment
We accept payment by French cheque or in cash (euros). We do not accept bank cards.

Cancellation
8 days or more before arrival date: 50% of total due, minimum 50€ per room.
7 days or fewer before arrival date, non-arrival or visit cut short: 100% of total.
Cancellation fees are payable regardless of whether a deposit has been paid.

Damages, breakages and loss
Guests must pay for damage they cause to property, breakages, accidental or otherwise (other than normal wear and tear), loss of keys, etc
